Using Photos to Increase Your Geo-Footprint
There are two main factors which affect the visibility of your listing on Google Maps.
The first is the location of the person who is searching.
The second is the physical location of your business.
(If your address is hidden on Google – the address used for verification still plays a role here.)
While you can’t influence where people are searching from, you can expand the footprint of your business by optimizing photos for different locations.
The Process
Please be sure to use different photos for this.
(Other than the ones you previously geo-tagged with your Profile’s location.)
Don’t upload the same photos twice.
#1 Choose Your Photos
Select the photos you’d like to geo-tag.
#2 Open Google Maps and Search for a Location
Select a specific location that’s within a 20 mile (30 km) radius to your business.
The locations I usually go for are of Starbucks locations, delis and other “mom and pop” shops.
#3 Right-Click the Location’s Pin
Then click the longitude/latitude coordinates to copy them:
#4 Open GeoImgr
Here’s the link: https://tool.geoimgr.com/
#5 Upload an Image
Upload one of the images you previously selected.
#6 Paste the Geo Coordinates
Paste the geo-coordinates that you copied from Google Maps:
GeoImgr allows you to pull geo data directly within it – but you’ll need to upgrade to a paid account.
That’s why I’ve shown how to get coordinates from Google Maps.
#7 Write the EXIF Tags
Use this button:
#8 Download the Image
Use the Download button:
#9 Upload to Google Business Profile
If you’ve followed the Photo Optimization process – you’re ready to upload the photo to your Profile.
(You can also use it in a post.)
